The "Harpfe" Foundation
We like to apply our guiding principle to achieve lasting results through specific actions also when it comes to culture.
The “Harpfen”, wooden structures used in the past by farmers to dry grass, have always been an important feature of Val Pusteria’s agricultural landscape. They are testimonials to the mountain valley’s cultural development and its deep connections with neighboring regions.
Franz and Gerda Senfter, President and Vice President of Senfter Holding, have fallen in love with these elaborate constructions of the past, and have, therefore, created and endowed the “Harpfe” Foundation.
The Foundation will explore the historic background of the “Harpfen” and make the results of its research accessible to the broad public. A practical and intellectual collaboration between experts on local history and culture, university faculty and village communities will be at the base of the research work.
As a first step all existing “Harpfen” in Val Pusteria are being registered, in order to restore to functionality and safeguard as many of them as possible.
The Foundation will also promote research and events within other areas of cultural interest.
Furthermore, an information magazine with the title “Die Harpfe” will be published and distributed periodically.
Gerda Senfter is the Vice President of the Foundation and, along with President Helmut Rizzolli, is actively involved in its activities.
“What a pleasure to see so much engagement at the service of safeguarding these wonderful structures. At Senfter Holding we are proud to have brought this initiative to life”, she says.
