The Chinese market is a special challenge for the SENFTER Holding AG: 1.3 billion people and a four-thousand years tradition of eating pork.
Shineway Group: Strategic Alliance with the market leader
The SENFTER Holding AG, due to Grandi Salumifici Italiani (GSI), takes part at four joint ventures with the Chinese market leader Shineway Group since 1995. Produced are mainly cooked types of meat.
1,500 people are employed in the plants, the yearly production quantity is around 70 million kilogrammes and the turnover reaches 100 million euro.
High-quality Italian and South-Tyrolean specialities
Chinese people love high-quality products. Because of this, the SENFTER Holding AG built a modern plant in Shanghai. Specialities like bacon, sausages and ham are produced. The result: The plant of Shanghai shows the highest growth rates of all plants in China!
Renewable energy resources
The SENFTER Holding AG, due to the participation at the South-Tyrolean financial enterprise Euregio Finance, takes part at a joint venture with the Shineway Group to produce energy from the biomass of pigs. The project has started in 1995, investments of 1.2 million euro were made. In the second half of this year, electricity should be feed into the Chinese power supply system.
Future prospects
The SENFTER Holding AG wants to make further investments into the Chinese market to obtain growth and the development of innovative technologies.
The plant of Shanghai should be extended, the capacity tripled. Furthermore the SENFTER Holding AG aims to increase the engagement in the field of renewable energy resources.
